Reshape the Future of Energy. With Us.
At Skellium, we’re not just building better batteries — we’re redefining what’s possible for electric mobility. Based in Aachen and backed by the EXIST Research Transfer programme, we’ve developed a breakthrough manufacturing process for lithium-metal anodes that makes next-generation solid-state batteries safer, more efficient, and ready for scale. Think: EVs with 1,000+ km range. That’s the world we’re building.
We’re a small, ambitious team at the very beginning of something big — and we’re looking for a Bachelor’s or Master’s student who wants to shape the production technology behind the next generation of batteries.
Bachelor’s / Master’s Thesis | Shape the Production Technology of Next-Generation Batteries
Your Mission
Producing lithium-metal electrodes at industrial scale is one of the central challenges in developing high-performance next-generation batteries. Material quality, process stability, scalable manufacturing technology, and robust quality assurance all need to work together.
You will take ownership of a current development or industrialisation challenge within Skellium’s lithium-metal electrode process. Together, we will define a thesis topic that fits your strengths and interests while addressing a concrete need in our technology roadmap.
What You’ll Work On
Depending on your interests and Skellium’s current development priorities, your thesis may focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Develop and optimise manufacturing and production processes
- Design and validate machine or equipment concepts
- Develop methods for process monitoring and quality assurance
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate experimental investigations
- Analyse process data and identify improvement potential
- Assess the technical and economic feasibility of new production approaches
- Document and present your results and translate them into actionable recommendations
The final scope will be defined together with you and aligned with the current maturity of the technology.
