Reshape the Future of Energy. With Us.
At Skellium, we’re not just building better batteries — we’re redefining what’s possible for electric mobility. Based in Aachen and backed by the EXIST Research Transfer programme, we’ve developed a breakthrough manufacturing process for lithium-metal anodes that makes next-generation solid-state batteries safer, more efficient, and ready for scale. Think: EVs with 1,000+ km range. That’s the world we’re building.
We’re a small, ambitious team at the very beginning of something big — and we’re looking for a Master’s student who wants to be part of it.
Master’s Thesis | Storage Concept — Lithium-Metal Anodes
Your Mission
Lithium-metal anodes are exceptionally sensitive — how and where they’re stored has a direct impact on their quality, safety, and shelf life. You will develop a practical, production-ready storage concept for Skellium from the ground up. That means going beyond theory: you’ll combine a thorough review of existing literature and standards with real glove box experiments, investigating how different atmospheric conditions affect anode stability. The result is a concept we can actually use on the production floor.
What You’ll Work On
- Review and evaluate relevant literature, norms, and standards for lithium-metal anode storage
- Analyse existing storage strategies and benchmark approaches from the field
- Design and conduct glove box storage experiments to assess the influence of different atmospheres on anode quality
- Interpret experimental results and derive evidence-based storage recommendations
- Develop a comprehensive storage concept that integrates technical, organisational, and safety-related measures — ready for implementation at Skellium
